Luke 19 (The Pharisees--Marriage; Families--Little Children; Rich oung Ruler--Eternal Life; Disciples--Heavenly Inheritance)
Jesus shows that faithfulness to God and to family matters most.
During Jesus' time on earth, man people came to Him with inportant questions.  Jesus' answers showed what matters most to God.

‘For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.

Jesus is the Messiah.
note: ask your student if he remembers what the words "synagogue" (local congregations where the Jews met after the Temple was destroyed) and "Messiah" (God's promised one) mean.

Luke 17:7-18:14 (A Servant's Duty, A Thankful Leper, Watching for Jesus' Return and Prayer and a Persistent Widow)
Jesus demonstrates how faith in Him touches every area of life.

People who are faithful believe that serving God is their duty and that God deserves to be thanked.  They watch for Jesus to return, keep praying because they believe God will answer their prayers, and believe what the Bible says about sin and that they need God's forgiveness.

Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it. --Luke 17:33

The Big God Story (Genesis to Revelation)
We started our worship time observing and singing with the bell choir.  What a treat!
Bell Choir Presentation
Bell Choir Presentation
Today, we walked through the Big God Story from Genesis to Revelation.  The Big God Story gets better and better as we hear it.  Everything ties together and points to Jesus.  God is so patient with us.  God used the lives of all of the people we heard about today to weave a beautiful story of His love for us.  He created His story throughout time for the purpose of bringing Jesus Christ, our Savior, to earth for all people.  The Big God Story is still being written today.  And we are all part of the Big God Story and we can tell others of God's great love!

"May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ !"                                            --1 John 3:1

May our children receive hope and encouragement through The Big God Story. May they worship Him this week and follow His plan for their lives.

Luke 16
Jesus encourages His followers to use money in ways that please God.
In class, Mr. Allen talked about earthly riches vs. heavenly riches, money has no real or lasting rewards, and we should be trustworthy with everything God gives us so He will trust us with true riches.
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
                                                                                                                                        --Luke 16:13

The Father Is Love (Luke 15:11-32)--The Prodigal Son
Singing with the youth band
Some of the  children noticed that even though this Sunday was Mothers' Day, the lesson was fatherly themed.  It's about the Father's love.

As Jesus told the disciples the parable of the prodigal son, He revealed some beautiful and amazing truths about God the Father. He is kind, compassionate, forgiving, loving, and gracious.
We talked about the father never stopped longing for his son to return home, and when the son "came to his senses", he started heading towards the right direction (repentance and asking for forgiveness), and how we should understand the heart of the father and rejoice with our God when the lost is found.
This is a beautiful story of redemption.  And our Father in heaven today, is still welcoming us with opened arms.  When we tell Him our troubles, He forgives us and helps us.
Large Group Respond Activity--We can bring to God our troubles
"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!  And that is what we are!"                                                           --1 John 3:1
Small Group Respond Activity
May our children know that they are children of God. May they experience His love when they feel sad, confused, or lost. May they remember their Father in heaven will always respond to them in love, for He is love.
There are a few Heavenly Father verses for the children to look up at home:
2 Corinthians 6:18
Ephesians 5:19-20
Galatians 4:6
John 14:1-3

Solomon's Temple--2 Chronicles 5-7

God's people built a magnificent Temple in Jerusalem to exalt Him.

God is Spirit.

Luke 15
Jesus truly cares about people and seeks to bring them to God.

In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
"--Luke 15:10

God cares!

Jesus is Freedom (Luke 12:13-34)
Anticipate activity: Heavy Burden activity
Our sins and worries weight us down
Matthew 6:26-27 6
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
Jesus Is Freedom activity
God sent His Son, Jesus, to set us free from our sin and from the pain our sin causes. Jesus is freedom, and He invites us to live in that freedom as His followers.

May our children know that the Father loves them and will always take care of them.  May they know that Jesus is freedom and trust Him to give them everything they need.  May our children
rest in Him and be free from worry.
