Main Focus: God Rescues
(Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego--Daniel 3)
Anticipate: Save Me!
Saving people is not easy. We humans cannot just say ‘I’m going to save you!’ and expect to do it every time. Even so, remember to thank God for the brave soldiers, aid workers, policemen and firemen whose job it to try to save people every day. It is so wonderful that God IS able to save everyone with the ultimate LP, His son Jesus Christ. Sometimes the human circumstances don’t change (people aren’t healed, things don’t
work out) but with salvation, the eternal circumstances are always known.

Game: Lego Rescue
Memory Verse:
"Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’” --Luke 4:8

Today we look at the story of 3 young men who defied a powerful ruler to obey God’s most basic command not to worship anything other than Him. So much about the story is incredible that sometimes its easy to overlook their deep friendship and trust in each other and God. Even if they died, they would die for God together. God didn’t have to save them for them to trust Him. God is good no matter what. But God did come through in a big way by saving them from the fiery furnace.

RESPOND:
How wonderful it was that these young men stuck together and stuck with God! So today, we’ll be making suction cup friend who stick to glass (or any smooth surface) to remind us to support one another and trust God.  Notice that the suction cups don’t just stick to any surface. The surface must be smooth. So remember to keep your spirit “smooth” and peaceful. When you don’t feel that way, ask the Holy Spirit to help you be the best friend and best child of God that you can be.
Bless:
"Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’” -Luke 4:8
May our children know that God rescues and protects His children.  He is always with us.

(King Josiah--2 Kings 22-23)
Anticipate: Can You Hear Me?
Its easy to think the Israelites were stupid to forget God but they didn’t know today and forget tomorrow. Many, many years passed requiring generations of teachers, leaders and parents to pass on their
understanding of God. Think of the Israelites faith as something that slowly dripped away until there was nothing left. This doesn’t give them an excuse but does help us understand why teaching EVERY GENERATION of kids is so important and why we think spending this time with you now is so important!

Memory Verse:
"Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’” --Luke 4:8
We have been learning about the Israelites and their prophets. Many of the kings either turned away from God or forgot who He was and what He was like. Josiah began his reign by wanting to restore his country and the temple… his desire to seek the best for Israel led him to find God and His Word again.

RESPOND: Making A "God Light"
Sometimes we need help remembering to look for God. Many things can remind us that He is around even when things seem darkest. Today we are going to make a “God Light” to help remind us that God is always with us and He wants to be close to us!
Bless:Bless
May Christ’s light shine on our children so that they an see how God desires for them to live.  May our children obey Him and follow Him each day.

Main Focus: God Is the One and Only
(King Ahab and Elijah--1 Kings 16-18)
Anticipate: God's Wisdom vs. Yoda's Wisdom
Most kings after King David were evil and led their people to believe in false gods. In today’s Big God Story, we will hear about a contest between Elijah and Ahab to prove God is the one true God. The Israelites were allowed to choose which god to believe and worship, Baal or God.  In this activity, children differentiate between the true words of God coming from the Bible to what some people believe are “words of wisdom” from a famed Star Wars character, Yoda.

Memory Verse:
"Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’” --Luke 4:8

King Ahab did more evil than any other king before him.  He led God's people to worship a false god, Baal, who was believed to have power over rain and the weather.  But God is the one and only.  So, God sent drought to the land for 3 1/2 years.  If Baal were a real god, he would have sent rain.  But the land received no rain or dew.
After the 3+ years, God sent Elijah to go to King Ahab to assemble the people and all Baal's false prophets on Mt. Carmel.  Elijah urged the people to choose between God and Baal.Elijah had a contest against 450 of Baal's prophets to see if God or Baal is the one and only true God.  At the end, while Baal did not respond to the cry of the loud shouting of the false prophets, God's fire came down in a mighty way, proving to everyone that He is the one and only.  The people all fell face down and cried, "The Lord is God!"  And shortly afterwards, God sent rain.
RESPOND:
One way to worship God is by presenting offerings to Him. Many times in the Old Testament, the Israelites presented their offerings to God by placing them on a small raised area made of stones. This was called an altar.
Bless:
May our children know that our God is the one and only God.  May they always turn to Him for everything they need.

The Holy Spirit charges believers to take Jesus’ message into new regions.

Verse:

Remember and Celebrate: Feast of First Fruit
Celebrating God as Trustworthy
God commands His people to keep festivals and feasts so that they'd remember what God has done for them and not forget His goodness. God led the Israelites out of Egypt and promised them a land of their own.  This promised land was a good and fertile land, filled with milk and honey.  God commands His people to celebrate the feast of First Fruit to help them remember that He is trustworthy and that He always keeps His promises.
This feast also reminds God's people that after the dead of the winter, God brings life again.  In the Bible, Jesus is referred to as the First Fruit.  After Jesus' death and burial, believers can have eternal life.  God promised us eternal life and the promise is fulfilled through His Son, Jesus.  God is trustworthy.
