Main Focus: Jesus Is Salvation
Parable of the Great Banquet
(Luke 14:12-24)

Anticipate: Foam Feast
In Jesus’ time an invitation to a banquet was a highly honored event. In the parable of the great banquet, Jesus uses a banquet setting to teach truths about His offer of salvation.
Worship with Singing: led by Youth Band
Walking Taco Game
Memory Verse
"This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him."--1 John 4:9

It means nothing to receive an invitation if one refuses to attend the event.  Jesus’ parable of the great banquet is a story of a master’s generosity, a people’s rejection, and an invitation extended to those typically forgotten. God offers the blessings of His kingdom to all people, if they would simply receive the truth that Jesus is salvation.
Respond: You Are Invited
Bless
Acts 4:12:
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
May our children call on the name of Jesus with confidence and faith. May they receive and accept His invitation to be in relationship with Him. May they have hope for their future knowing Jesus is salvation.  May they extend God's invitation to those around them.

Memory Verse
"This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him."--1 John 4:9

Through the parable of the Good Samaritan Jesus challenged His listeners to think differently about their responsibility to love because God is love.  Jesus wants us about to think more broadly about whom we love and help: beyond family, beyond friends, beyond neighbors all the way even to our enemies! Sometimes its hard for us to figure out how we can be a Good Samaritan in our daily lives. Like in most things Jesus teaches, we need to start close to home while not forgetting those far away. And we need to show our love through our actions.  God is love, and He created us to love, too.

Main Focus: God Requires Obedience
Parable of the Wise and Foolish Builders
(Luke 6:46-49; Matthew 7:24-27)

Anticipate: Sure Foundation
Having a sure foundation is important to stability.  When we obey God, we have that sure foundation.  Collapse hurts people and families and mostly ourselves when we choose to disobey God.
Worship with Singing: led by Youth Band
Memory Verse
"Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."--John 17:3
At the end of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, Jesus finished His teaching with the parable of the wise and foolish builder to remind his listeners how important obedience was.  It's not enough to just hear God's teaching, but believers must live it out in obedience.  Jesus wanted people to listen and do what He said.  God requires obedience.  We can ask the Holy Spirit to help us obey.
Respond: Suspend
Most of us don't wake up in the morning and think "I am going to disobey today!"  Most of the time, we all THINK we will obey, but then small problems put us into a mindset that "it doesn't matter what I do."  We can end up in a very bad place when we make small disobedient choices.  With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can make a choice to stop those bad choices and choose to obey God.
Bless:
Psalm 24:4-5 :  “Show me your ways, LORD.  Teach me your paths.  Guide me in your truth and teach me.  For you are God my savior.  And my hope is in you all day long.”
May our children remember that Jesus has given them His words to guide them, and He will bring them back when they go the wrong way.  May they learn to obey everything He has commanded, for He is with them always, to the very end of the age.
