Remember and Celebrate: Feast of Unleavened Bread
Celebrating God as Redeemer
God commands His people to keep festivals and feasts so that they'd remember what God has done for them and not forget His goodness. During Moses' time, the people of Israel were slaves in the land of Egypt. They cried out to God to deliver them.  And God did.  God sent plagues in the land of Egypt so that the Egyptians would know that He is the only true God who overcomes all the idols they worshiped.  Right before the very last plague, God commanded the Israelites to eat in haste and to prepare the bread without yeast (unleavened bread).  God answered His people and delivered them from slavery.  He redeemed them to give them freedom and a new start.  Today, God is still our Redeemer.  He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross, so that we can have a new beginning, new life, and new hope in Him.

Memory Verse:
"with a mighty hand and outstretched arm; His love endures forever." --Psalm 136:12

In today's story, we heard about a man who had two wives, Hannah and Peninnah.  While Peninnah had children, Hannah had none.  Because of that, Hannah was in deep anguish.  Hannah prayed to the Lord Almighty for a son.  Lord Almighty also means someone who stands before you to protect and fight for you.  After Hannah prayed, the Lord Almighty heard her and remembered her.  In due time, she had a son, just as she asked the Lord.  When Samuel grew older, Hannah dedicated him to serve the Lord all the days of his life and praised the Lord for being the Almighty God.  God did not forget Hannah and blessed her with 5 more children.  Now Samuel stayed with Eli, the priest, in the temple of God.  One night, Samuel heard a voice calling his name.  For three times, he went to Eli.  Finally, Eli realized it was God calling Samuel and instructed Samuel to answer the Lord the next time He called.  Samuel did as instructed and listened attentively to the Lord.  The Lord later on called Samuel to be a priest and a prophet of God and spoke God's message to the Israelites.  Samuel led Israel into a new time in which godly leaders modeled obedience to God.

RESPOND: Give Thanks Tin
What’s happening next week? Thanksgiving! How thankful Hannah must have been when God heard her prayer for a child. She kept her promise and dedicated Samuel to God. God then blessed her even
more with other children.
When we ask God for something really important we might remember to give thanks. But it’s the small things that make our lives better and easier every day that we need to also remember. Those are often the God given
acts and things its easy to take for granted but that make up the bulk of our lives!

Bless:"with a mighty hand and outstretched arm; His love endures forever." --Psalm 136:12

May our children be blessed by God Almighty.  My they praise Him for the things He has done and will do in their lives.

Memory Verse:
"with a mighty hand and outstretched arm; His love endures forever." --Psalm 136:12

After 40 years wondering in the desert, Moses passed the responsibility of leading the Israelites to Joshua.  God commended Joshua to be strong and courageous and to meditate on His law day and night.  God wanted Joshua to model for the Israelites by spending time with God and trusting in His leading.
God commended the people to cross the Jordan River by following the Ark, which is the representation of God's presence.  Though it was flooding season and though crossing the 1/2 mile wide Jordan river was seemingly impossible, as soon as the priests who carried the Ark stepped into the river, the water stopped and piled up to form a wall!  The Israelites were able to walk on dry ground and cross the river safely.  God never fails! God then, instructed one person from each tribe to pick up a stone from the river bed and pile those stones together to build an altar in remembrance of what the Lord had done.

RESPOND: Remembrance Stone
After God parted the Jordan river, he had the leader of each of the tribes take a Rock (show stone) and make a pile at river side. This was to be a way to remember God’s care and all the miracles He did to keep them
alive and get them to the Promise Land.  We can also remember what God has done and that He never fails!

Bless:"with a mighty hand and outstretched arm; His love endures forever." --Psalm 136:12
May our children know and trust that God never fails.  He will keep His promises to our children, because He is faithful.

Memory Verse:
"with a mighty hand and outstretched arm; His love endures forever." --Psalm 136:12

Today we learn that God Dwells with His people through the stories of Building of the Tabernacle.  Because God loves His people so much, He desires to dwell among His people.  However, God is holy, that those with sin (that's all of us) may not approach Him.  So God gave the people of Israelites detailed instructions to build the Tabernacle and who can and how to approach Him after sanctification. Within the Tabernacle, God's presence, the Ark of the Covenant, resides in the Holy of Holies, separated by a thick curtain to where the high priest may approach.  Sin separates people from God, and that's what the big curtain represented.  God's presence filled the Tabernacle by the form of a cloud.  The Israelites could see God's presence and knew that He was near.
God still dwells with His people today, first by sending His Son, Jesus.  Then, after Jesus' ascension, sending the Holy Spirit to dwell within each believer.

RESPOND: Thankful Pumpkin

God is always with His people.  This pumpkin will help us remember the different times God has been with us and the times we need to have His presence in our lives.
Bless:"with a mighty hand and outstretched arm; His love endures forever." --Psalm 136:12
May our children know that God is with them, no matter where they go.
