Peter and Tabitha
(Acts 9:36-42)

Anticipate: Making Clothes
Worship with songs: led by Youth Band
Game: From an egg to a superhero--Rock, Paper, Scissor with a twist

Memory Verse
" But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."--Acts 1:8

God used Peter, an apostle and a missionary, to heal Tabitha--a woman who made clothes for people who needed them.  Because of this miracle, more and more people came to faith in Jesus.  Today, God still has the power to heal.  We can pray for healing because we know that God is the Lord who heals.  We also can have faith that even when God chooses not to answer our prayers for healing, He is doing something much bigger than our eyes can see.  We need to keep praying and remember how much God loves each person and watch for ways we feel God's presence.

Respond: Local Missions Projects --Project Linus
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10
God used Tabitha to help those around her by making clothes for people who needed them.  Today, we participate in Project Linus by making blankets for children who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need.
Bless:
Psalm 31:2-5  "Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.  You, LORD, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit.  Sing the praises of the LORD, you his faithful people; praise his holy name.  For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning."

May God care for the body, heart and mind of our children in every way.  May He show Himself as the Lord who heals to our children and to those around them.

Stephen Is Martyred
(Acts 6:8-7:60)

Anticipate: Explosive Growth
After the first Christian martyr, Stephen, was killed because of his faith in Jesus, persecution of the church intensified and many believers scatters. while this seemed like a bad thing, God used these believers to spread the gospel throughout the world, even to the ends of the earth.  The church exploded with growth!

Worship with songs: led by Youth Band--Raging Rapids
Game:Giant Tic Tac Toe

Memory Verse
" But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."--Acts 1:8

Faith means more than just believing in something. Faith means believing in something so much that you surrender to that belief and let it change your life. Faith is very serious and important. Stephen had faith. He had faith that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died and rose from the dead, and that He is the only One who can bring people into right relationship with God. Because of Stephen’s faith in Jesus, he shared what he believed with others, no matter what might happen to him. Stephen obeyed the one true God, even when it cost him his life.   Jesus also asks us to take up our cross and follow Him (Matthew 16:24). This is a high calling—one that means giving our lives to Him. Spend some time talking with your kids about what it means to truly live out faith in their lives.

Respond: Getting the Secret
Stephen reminded the religious leaders that throughout history, God's people never seemed to get things right the first time.  But God never stopped being faithful to them.  This game of guessing what the secret is would take us a few rounds to "get it."  (ex. "I will travel to London and I will bring Larry with me." "I will travel to China and I will bring Cindy with me.")

Bless:
Colossians 3:1  "Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at eh right hand of God."

May our children worship the one true God with their whole lives.  May they serve and follow Him with great joy.

Main Focus: God Is Truth
Peter and John healed the lame and before the Sanhedrin
(Acts 3-4)

Anticipate: What's in the Bag? (Taking a Risk)
Peter too a risk in speaking about Jesus and sharking God’s truth with the Jewish leaders called the Sanhedrin. But because the Holy Spirit had inspired boldness in him, Peter spoke to them with authority and assurance of the truth. God often requires us to be bold in our faith and the Holy Spirit can give us the strength and inspiration to do just that.

Worship with songs: led by Youth Band--Cliffhangers
Game: True or False

Memory Verse
" But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."--Acts 1:8

After Peter and John healed the lame man in the name of Jesus, they got people's attention.  Peter was bold in speaking about Jesus' death and resurrection and he was a powerful and courageous witness for Jesus. When Peter and John appeared before the Sanhedrin, they might have felt very afraid to share about Jesus and what He had done for them, instead, the Holy Spirit empowered them with the boldness to share ALL of God’s truth. God is truth.  Doing this could have led to some bad results like being imprisoned, beaten or even killed. But that didn’t matter to the disciples because they knew God wanted them to share the truth with as many people as they could.  God is truth.  His truth will always prevail.

Respond: Who Am I Taboo
It is harder to help the guesser figure out the person when you are restricted from saying some important things about them. That is how we sometimes share Jesus. We just talk about the good things like “God is Love” but don’ talk about repentance or our need for a savior because we
are sinful people. Do you think people will be able to figure out who God really is if we leave out the important bits?

Bless:
Psalm 25:5 Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

May our children understanding of Gods truth grow more and more, and may His truth lead them in every area of their lives.

Main Focus: God's Spirit Unifies
Ascension and Gift of the Holy Spirit
(Acts 1:1-11; 2)

Anticipate: Magnets
When you love Jesus you can’t help but be “attracted” to the nudging of the Holy Spirit. Just like anything with iron is attracted to a magnet. It’s a comfort to know that we automatically have the attention of the comforter (what Jesus calls the Holy Spirit) to help us because we have given our lives to Christ.
Worship with songs: led by Youth Band--Forest Fires

Game: Body Mash Up

Memory Verse
" But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."--Acts 1:8

After Jesus ascended into heaven, He sent His promised Holy Spirit.  As the Holy Spirit came the new believers joined as one and modeled God’s love for one another. It gave them the power to be unified in their love for one another. The gift of the Holy Spirit helps us live for Jesus in
our day to day lives. It helps us encourage one another and show God’s love to each other especially for those who also know God. Because of the Holy Spirit we can follow the command Jesus gave to His followers to
“love one another as He had loved them” (John 13:34-35)

Respond: Encouraging the Body
It’s really easy to find bad things about people or to notice when others make mistakes. Part of loving one another is trying to see other Christians through God’s eyes and to encourage them about that person the Holy Spirit is helping them become. God wants us to see the good in each other so today we are going to give encouraging words to one another.
Bless:
Psalm 25:5 Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

May our children's understanding of Gods truth grow more and more, and may His truth lead them in every area of their lives.
