Anticipate: Name That Sound
Our God is a powerful and mighty God. And because He loves us, He chooses to listen to our prayers and at times answer them in unexpected ways. And as our Creator God, He knows each of us, our hopes, fears, strengths and desires. And He knows us by name. Would you recognize God calling to you if you heard Him?

Memory Verse:
"with a mighty hand and outstretched arm; His love endures forever." --Psalm 136:12

In today's story, we heard about a man who had two wives, Hannah and Peninnah.  While Peninnah had children, Hannah had none.  Because of that, Hannah was in deep anguish.  Hannah prayed to the Lord Almighty for a son.  Lord Almighty also means someone who stands before you to protect and fight for you.  After Hannah prayed, the Lord Almighty heard her and remembered her.  In due time, she had a son, just as she asked the Lord.  When Samuel grew older, Hannah dedicated him to serve the Lord all the days of his life and praised the Lord for being the Almighty God.  God did not forget Hannah and blessed her with 5 more children.  Now Samuel stayed with Eli, the priest, in the temple of God.  One night, Samuel heard a voice calling his name.  For three times, he went to Eli.  Finally, Eli realized it was God calling Samuel and instructed Samuel to answer the Lord the next time He called.  Samuel did as instructed and listened attentively to the Lord.  The Lord later on called Samuel to be a priest and a prophet of God and spoke God's message to the Israelites.  Samuel led Israel into a new time in which godly leaders modeled obedience to God.

RESPOND: Give Thanks Tin
What’s happening next week? Thanksgiving! How thankful Hannah must have been when God heard her prayer for a child. She kept her promise and dedicated Samuel to God. God then blessed her even
more with other children.
When we ask God for something really important we might remember to give thanks. But it’s the small things that make our lives better and easier every day that we need to also remember. Those are often the God given
acts and things its easy to take for granted but that make up the bulk of our lives!

Bless:"with a mighty hand and outstretched arm; His love endures forever." --Psalm 136:12

May our children be blessed by God Almighty.  My they praise Him for the things He has done and will do in their lives.
