Galatians 5-6 (Fruit of the Spirit and Galatia)

ANTICIPATE:
"What Fruit Juice Is It?" Activity
With this activity, children guessed what fruit juice was being served by tasting a sample. They can recognize a fruit by its juice just the way others should be able to recognize the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our lives

Worship with singing:  led by JrHi / High School band

Memory Verse: "Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. (2 Corinthians 5:5 )
In today's Big God Story, Paul wrote a letter to the church in Galatia to let them know that believers can have the Holy Spirit—God Himself—live inside us and guide our lives! God’s Spirit renews us. God’s Spirit takes our old, sinful lives and gives us a fresh start and makes each of us into a new creation.  Paul compared the work of seeds, which grow into the fruits they were designed to become, with the work of God’s Spirit renewing us by growing His qualities in us.

Engage: ”Renewing” (Cleaning) Pennies
We placed four pennies and fully submerged in the four substances and guess which substance will do the best job at cleaning the pennies.  Through this activity, we are reminded that God renews us through His Holy Spirit and it alone can clean us of our sins.

"But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit."--Titus 3:4-5
May God’s Spirit renew our children as He grows His spiritual fruit in them. May the fruit He produces show others His great power.
