Main Focus: Jesus Is God's Son (Baptism of Jesus)
Luke 3:1-22
ANTICIPATE: Clue
God used John the Baptist to announce the arrival of the Messiah. For hundreds of years, through the words of prophets, promises and songs, God had been giving his people clues about his Son’s coming. So when John was part of a whole set of clues God left the Israelites about who Jesus would be and how He would come to them.
Memory Verse: "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. " (John 17:3)
Jesus is God’s Son. To make sure the people watching His baptism knew this, God parted the clouds and said so out loud! Amazing! It is even more amazing that God sent His Son to die for our sins because God loves us.
RESPOND: I Am God's Child: God Shines Through Me! God is Reflected in Me!
In God’s eyes we are all unique, beautiful and precious. He designed us to reflect His light to the world and let His light shine through us. We are His children and He loves us very much.
John 1:12 “Yet to all
who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to
become children of God.”
May our children know that God
loves them very much and will never stop loving them, no matter what they do. May our children understand that nothing can make
God’s love for them go away.
