Main Focus: Jesus Is King of Kings (Triumphal Entry)
Matthew 21:1-17
ANTICIPATE:  Christ Is King
Today is Palm Sunday and Jesus was welcomed into Jerusalem as a King! Christ is indeed King in our lives but not for the reasons those crowds might have hoped. He didn’t come to be an earthly king but king of eternity so when Jesus went to the Cross on Good Friday people’s hopes were crushed. His rising on Easter Sunday changed the world.
Memory Verse: "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.  (John 17:3)

On that very bad Friday, Jesus endured torture, humiliation and death on the cross to bring very good news so we might be forgiven through Him and be able to live forever with Him.  Good Friday is good because Jesus loves you and me.
RESPOND: Hidden Message Cross
We need to remember the message that God loves us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus to die for our sins. Palm Sunday is just the beginning of the week. Without the cross the celebration of Jesus’ entrance to Jerusalem is meaningless. And without Jesus’ resurrection His sacrifice would not save us.
God wants us to know Him and His love.  That's why He sent His Son.  We can cry out to Him today, "Hosanna!  Save us!" as we invite Him to be our Savior and take His rightful place as King of our lives.
Matthew 21:9: "Hosanna to the Son of David!” "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” "Hosanna in the highest heaven!"

May our children know that Jesus is the King of Kings.  May they be full of joy and praise because He alone is the King over all the earth.
