1st-4th grade
Main Focus: God is Lord
Jacob and Esau (Genesis 25:29-34; 27)

Anticipate: What Is It? (touch and guess game)
Jacob put on goat skins so he would seem hairy like his twin brother, Easu.  Isaac was blind and relied upon his sense of touch although he knew the voice he heard was not right.  We often make assumptions or judgments based on our senses.

Worship with songs: led by Youth Band
Game: Put Things in Order

Memory Verse
" Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God."--Psalm 90:2

Receiving a special blessing that could only be given one time was part of the birthright of the oldest child in a family in Jacob and Esau's time.  While the twins were still in their mother's womb, God told Rebekah, the mother, that the younger brother will one day rule over the older brother.  God knew all things because He is Lord.  But Rebekah and Jacob took matters into their own hands and caused the family to be divided because they failed to trust that God is Lord.  Today, God is still Lord.  When things do not make sense in our lives, we need to remember the attribute of God that He is faithful, all powerful, might and just.  When we remember that God is Lord, we remember that He is always in control.  And we can always trust in Him.

Respond: Seeing Isn't Believing
We make assumptions about our world based a lot on what we see, but our eyes and brain could be tricked sometime.  Sometimes we think everything an be explained but God is bigger than our senses and He is the Creator of our minds.  He understands everything because He created it.  We only see a small part of His Big Story.
Bless
Psalm 47
Clap your hands, all you nations;
    shout to God with cries of joy.
For the Lord Most High is awesome,
    the great King over all the earth.
He subdued nations under us,
    peoples under our feet.
He chose our inheritance for us,
    the pride of Jacob, whom he loved.[b]
God has ascended amid shouts of joy,
    the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets.
Sing praises to God, sing praises;
    sing praises to our King, sing praises.
For God is the King of all the earth;
    sing to him a psalm of praise.
God reigns over the nations;
    God is seated on his holy throne.
The nobles of the nations assemble
    as the people of the God of Abraham,
for the kings[c] of the earth belong to God;
    he is greatly exalted.
 May the children know that God is Lord over all things, including their lives.  May they know His presence each day and trust in Him.
