Main Focus: God Blesses
Solomon, part 1  (1 Kings 1-6)

Anticipate: How Many Blessings
God gives us so many good things that it is hard to remember them all or even think of how many blessings He has already given to us.  Writing them down is one way to count our blessings from God.

Memory Verse
"How abundant are the good things that you have stored up for those who fear you...in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in yo."--Psalm 31:19

David’s faith not only brought him blessings (good things) from God, it also extended to bring his son Solomon good things. On top of the promises God made to David, He offered to give Solomon further blessings and Solomon asked for wisdom. This showed that his heart was in the right place and concerned more for his people than his own benefit. As a result God gave Solomon not only wisdom but also, honor, wealth, long life and fame. God blessed Solomon to be a blessing to the Israelites.  That’s the way God works because He loves us. His blessings multiply and when we realize how much He gives us all the time we remember His love for us!  The biggest blessing God gave us is His Son, Jesus.  And as we freely receive His forgiveness and salvation, we should freely give His goodness of Jesus and extend His kindness to others.  May we be a blessing to others as we have been blessed by God.

Respond: Blessing Hearts
Today we want to blessing someone else and because of God’s generosity we’ll get to bless ourselves too!

Bless:
“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us—so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.
May the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you.” Psalm 67:1-3

May God’s goodness and blessings overflow in the lives of our children.
