After the believers were scattered outside of Jerusalem because of persecution, they went to nearby regions and started sharing the good news of Jesus with other Jews, and some even started talking about Jesus with Gentiles, non-Jews.  Antioch was one of those cities, where the first Gentile church was established.  The church in Antioch received Barnabas and his encouragement to stay faithful to Jesus' truth.  Barnabas then invited Paul to join his ministry in Antioch, and together, they ministered for a year there.  When the church in Antioch heard about the famine in Jerusalem, they were moved by the Holy Spirit and gave and sent what they had to the believers in Jerusalem.  They were also the 1st church that send out Paul and Barnabas as missionaries to other regions.

Respond: "We Are the Church"
God's church follows God's teaching and testify for the Lord through their love for one another, just like the Antioch church.

Before He returned to heaven, Jesus told His disciples to make disciples. This may feel overwhelming at times, but God doesn’t expect us to do it alone: We have the Holy Spirit inside us to give us strength. God desires to see us live like new creations, so He sends His Holy Spirit to live in us. God’s Spirit changes everything, He changes us and teaches us what God wants us to know. Think about how one ingredient in our next activity can change everything in the same way God’s Spirit changes everything.
