Psalm 63:1a:

"O God, you are my God! I long for you!"

Focus:

~God is our Sovereign King.

~David worshiped God alone in the desert as found in Psalm 63.

~God will be near those who come to Him.

Mighty Miracles: Lesson 4--True Greatness

Jesus taught the disciples that true greatness is measured by one's willingness to trust Him and to serve others.  

Matthew 20:1-28-- True Greatness

Verse:

" just as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”--Matthew 20:28

Focus:

~God's ideas about being great are not the same as man's. 
~Jesus taught about true greatness through the parable of the workers.

~Jesus taught the disciples that true greatness is measured by one's willingness to trust Him and to serve others.

Main Focus: Remember and Celebrate God's Faithfulness
The Feast of the Trumpets

Anticipate: Building God's Kingdom Together

God wanted His people to remember His faithfulness through the help of feasts and festivals.  The Feast of Trumpets consists of a time of rest, an offering made by fire and blowing of trumpets.  The blowing of trumpets starts off the 10 days of repentance in order for the Israelites to be prepared for the Day of Atonement.  This feast gave God's people time to remember what God had done for them and to focus on obeying and loving God, who had been so faithful to them.

Every quarter, our TRU children participate in the review game of ZONK! to help them remember what they've discovered during the past several weeks in the Big God Story.
