March 1st TRU--Peter Is Chosen (Luke 5:1-11)

Which of Jesus' disciples does the word "fisherman" remind you of?  Most likely Peter would be one of your answers.  That was what we learned this past Sunday.
During Anticipate, the small group leaders took the kids fishing.  The kids were to "catch" as many fish as they could in 1 minute!

Mr. Allen demonstrated fishing could be very relaxing.  See that smile?
Mr. Robert told the story from Luke 5:1-11.   Just as Jesus called Peter, a fisherman, to follow Him, Jesus calls regular people to follow Him today because He wants us to be a part of His plan. God’s plan is best!
We could also "fish for people" like Peter by telling others about God's plan. The kids worked on their "fishing net" first.
Then, they were invited to pray for specific people in their lives who may not have a personal relationship with Jesus yet.   The kids wrote names on the paper cutouts and tape them to the fishing net.
The fishing nets served as a reminder that we are to pray for those people.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  --Jeremiah 29:11

May our children know that God's plan is best and that God is calling each of them to follow Him.  May they trust Him each day.
